Compare and contrast dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis
Both dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis deal with water but in opposite ways.Dehydration synthesis rips H2O away from two molecules so it can combine the two molecules. Hydrolysis breaks down molecules by reacting with water. An example of dehydration synthesis is maltose. Maltose is made by combining two glucose molecules using dehydration synthesis. Another example would be calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate can form using dehydration synthesis. It starts as CaCO3 but as dehydration synthesisv occurs it loses a water molecule and becomes CaCO3 + H2O. An example of hydrolysis would be silicon dioxide. it occurs when Si-O-Si reacts with H2O to produce Si-OH + Si-OH.

use fricion to describe Ekman Transport;use wind, current, hydrogen bonds
The Ekman Transport is formed due to friction, wind, and Coriolis effects. When the wind blows it will cause friction to occur on the surface of the ocean which breaks up the hydrogen bonds and creates currents to happen. When this occurs it will cause the layer of water underneath to spiral to the right and continue downwards causing the Ekman's Spiral to occur. The net effect of this is called the Ekman's Transport.
list and discuss the three ways that horizontal and vertical currents are created or generated.
The vertical and horizontal currents are created by wind, sea level, and variations in water pressure. When the wind blows and creates currents to develop and the current continues until friction from the seafloor drains the current's energy. By having different sea levels it will cause the different levels to fall on to each other causing waves to be formed. With different pressures it will cause pressure downwards forcing more water upwards. These ways will cause various currents to develop.
